T his page contains a note of every assignment and exercise for I&P. The notion is to 1. enable forward planning, 2. look for useful and perilous overlaps and 3. make more efficient use of my outings.

for example wasting an idea good enough for an assignment on a mere exercise.

[21May21] Having finished the cmat, I am now creating a To-do list of the unstarted and unfinished work for the Blog.

Part 1 - The non-familiar

  2. exc 1.1 - write about a portrait
  3. exc 1.2 - analyse Sander's portraits
  4. exc 1.3 - work a portraiture typography
  5. exc 1.4 - use the family photo-archive

Part 2 - Vice versa

  1. Asg 2 - 5 portraits - co-ordinate subject and environment
  2. exc 2.1 - 3 portraits, 3 different subjects in a location of their choice
  3. exc 2.2 - 5 portraits without their knowledge
  4. exc 2.3 - 1 subject, 5 settings - that will be Mrs.B., no Master B.
  5. exc 2.4 - 3 co-operative subjects, 1 setting

Part 3 - Mirrors and Windows

  1. Asg 3 - M or W - either a group you are part of or a group you are not. Foodbank?
note Coleman's quote on windows. Tattoo parlours have closed: do dogwalkers.
  2. exc 3.1 - M&W with 10 of your own photo-archive
  3. exc 3.2 - take some photographs that express your personality
  4. exc 3.3 - write about the portrayal of the underprivileged
  5. exc 3.4 - 5 portraits exploring gazes

Part 4 - Image and text

  1. Asg 4 - 7-10 images exploring identity and incorporating text
  2. exc 4.1 - write about Dawn Woolley's ads blog
  3. exc 4.2 - spend a day engaging with your word and image input
  4. exc 4.3 - play with a storyboard
  5. exc 4.4 - collect varying newspaper images and experiment with captions
  6. exc 4.5 - choose 5 phrases from the same ballpark and illustrate them

Part 5 - Absence and signs of life

  1. Asg 5 - 15 snaps - explore one of the course themes. E5.2 sounds interesting: can we turn this around and explore different views of the same place (different angles, different times, different weather). That statue near the National Theatre? Somewhere closer?
  2. exc 5.1 - still lifes, no people but signifiers of their presence - I like ash trays - in progress
  3. exc 5.2 - (after Perec) describe a place in detail, interpret it photographically
  4. exc 5.3 - choose a regular journey. Photograph it.
